Evaluation of WYSIWYG editors: WYMeditor scores well!
Par Jean-François, mercredi 7 février 2007 à 21:48 :: WYMeditor
Peter Krantz has just released his updated Evaluation of WYSIWYG editors, and we're proud to see that WYMeditor (0.2.2) gets good results:
WYMeditor is a very interesting contender. Although in a very early stage of development (only two versions released) it managed to score 14 points. It is also the only editor that clearly displays to the user what type of markup is being edited.
WYMeditor gets the same score as FCK. I find that quite impressive, by the way.
His detailed results are informative, too.
Table summary is easy; inline quote, acronym and Safari support are features we'll implement in next version. Language attribute is doable, too, but more work needs to be done for putting it on arbitrary text.
XStandard doesn't get any red cell (although it needs installation, is commercial, and Safari version is currently beta), but I think we're not so far from that result :)
Another good news: we are pleased to welcome Scott Lewis into our team.
Scott is an expert in XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and Web Standards, and will help us in WYMeditor development.
Scott has already done a great work, improving WYMeditor integration and configuration, and adding some cool features.
Thus we plan to finally release a 0.2.3 soon!
